Hey, guys. I've started wiring for turn signals on my 80 chop, all I have is the stock switches. Do any of you have just a simple rear/front-left/right diagram? Ive been searching, but in the search box, it only goes back 7 days. I'm hoping that if I get pulled over, or inspected, I can prove that it works. they are required in Washington state. As a side note: all safety equipment must be used. does this mean reflectors as well?

angus67, You can put as many days as you want in the search days box. Here is a diagram for the turn signals:

actually , now that I think of it, a 552 is two prong(ford), I think 553 is 3prong(chevy). any advise on this?

angus,
Use the 552 two prong flasher. The three prong flasher has got nothing to do with the self cancellor in the XS650. PLug it into the brown and brown/white connecitons.

I got a 2 prong flasher, and hooked it up on my workbench, and , viola! blink blink blink. S o took apart my switch box, and gave it a spin on my buffer. They polish pretty nice! were there any models that had full polished switchboxes? cleaned and greased'er up, looks great. I did modify the hi/lo switch though. instead of hi/lo, I made it a on/off for my head light so I can get full voltage to my coils(kick only). Im having every thing else on another switch, so, once its started, I just turn the electrical (blinkers, headlights) on.

I guess that depends on what you need, Piponss..... There's lots of wiring diagrams for choppers here - usually they're pretty simplified - and often don't even have blinkers, or electric starters.
If you're going for a relatively stock setup, but just want to get rid of a few unnecessary items (the RLU, Light Checker, etc, there's a few diagrams out there for that as well.
I completely redid my 79 (Points converted to a Boyer ignition) by taking a stock wiring diagram, and going through the posts on here, I eliminated the Light Checker, the RLU, swapped the fuse panel for a blade-type one, modified my alternator to use a Mopar electronic voltage regulator and bridge rectifiers (PamcoPete's mods), and also a mod that turned my headlight failure light (which was now useless with the light checker removed) into an alternator failure light.
After modifying my diagram, I bought a new wire harness and modified it to match the new diagram before I installed it on the bike. WHAT a change! No more wiring problems!
