I intend to paint my gas tank and side covers. I have had good results in the past with acrylic lacquers in both rattle cans and spraying. recently I have been unable to get Lacquers in New York State either in rattle cans or small amounts to spray paint. Does any one know where I can get a high quality lacquer in either rattle can or small quantities that will dry to a hard finnish?

lacquers have all but disappeared because of regulations and the fact that urethanes are so superior. They dry quickly, can be color sanded and buffed in a matter of hours, can be taped for graphic work, don't need all the polishing of lacquer and when completely dry the finish is tough against UV and hard as nails. And then there is the gloss. I can't think of any benefit to lacquer like there once was.
