Looking at Boyer's site - the Micro Digital was the earlier setup and could use the original coils - the Micro Power is the newer (later) setup and uses it's own (low resistance) coil. It should put out about a 35KV spark.
So it looks like I need a low-resistance coil....... 0.6 ohm if I can find it..... but a bigger spark would sure be nice! I'll post it if I find one that fits the bill.
Yeah - I know - everyone's confused since MikesXS photo shows a BLUE Micro Power box, and my bike definitely has a RED one - Just goes to show - READ THE LABEL! Maybe Boyer had a transitional period between making the red and blue boxes...... Who knows?
Thanks for setting me in the right direction, Griz - now we both know that the box color may be different, and I know what to look for now! ;D (Well - at least if new plugs don't fix it....)
Hmmmmm - I wonder what the resistance is on that Ultimate coil (17-6903) at Mike's......

Dang, you're right, Norm. I have a Micro Power box in the stash from early in the production run and dug it out to check--it's red, like yours. The MP is referred to in the trade as the "blue box system," but clearly Boyer made the change later. You can use that GM coil after all--looks like a pretty trick setup!

Maybe I should paint it blue just to avoid confusion.....LOL
A GM coil? What coil would that be? Just any Chebby dual output HEI coil, by the looks of it. Sorry, I don't know much about GM's - I'm a Mopar type......
I just found Nology's website, and I'm wondering about their Profire 152 001 070T coil (PFC-06TD) for Triumph bikes - .6 ohms, dual tower, 45KV spark, and lots of good reviews about them. Being cheaper than Mike's doesn't hurt, either!

Norm if you look up Mr. Riggs post on the $19 ignition system it shows how to set these coils up. I have two set up. One on the bike and another on my test stand. I just finished mounting my engine in the frame minutes ago. These coils are cheap at the wreckers and are powerful. Good luck. Tony C

I have the Boyer micro-power system and it stopped working-- When i touch the two stator plate wires together for an instant I get spark but only once- I have two wait a few moments before rubbing the two wires produces spark at the plugs again-- Is my Blue, less then 1 year old power box bad? I have checked all the grounds and power wires over and over. Thanx for any help. Slade
