rewiring my xs 650 what can i eliminate?????

let me start off by saying im an electrical lineman by day and im used to working with big wires and these little colored wires confuss the crap out of me lol..... anyways my first atempt was to use the stock wiring harness and splice into the tails going to the handle bars because this chopper has a harley front end with harley switches and 1 inch bars im not going to give up but ready to scrap the entire stock harness and start from scratch at this point i have brake light running light blinkers no spark no power to the yellow wires going to the head light no power coming from the blue black wire coming from the safty relay wanted to tie the black blue to yellow blue to bypass RLU but not getting power to it i have power to ignition then to on off switch then to starter button then to starter solinoide and comming out off it too but starter is not turning engine over and have no spark i bought a running bike tore it apart after altering an xs650 frame for a softail chopper oh by the way its a 1980 xs650 anyways it all worked before i took it apart now im not doing something right and its probably some little thing im over looking when rewiring it myself what order should i go about it i mean what circuit should i start with and so on and so fourth also can i do away with the safty relay , rlu , turn signal flasher unit flasher cancling unit reed switch and head light i already ordered ther led flasher units for each blinker and want to get rid of as much of the extra crap as possible i will post the wiring diagram ive been going by please let me know what u think thanks [img src="[/img]"][img src="[/img]"][img src="[/img]"]

It might be easier... Instead of having a hacked up stock harness, build your own from a chopper wire diagram and add what you need.... Lots of minimal/chopper wire diagrams here on the board, just do some searching...

On my 79 - I just got a new harness from Mike's, and eliminated the RLU, the Flasher Canceler, and the Light Checker. Then I modded it to turn the Headlight fail light into an Alternator fail light. I also modded it for PamcoPete's VR and Rectifier mods, and a Boyer ignition. The electrical system runs SO much better now, and I think I removed about 1/4 of the wiring on the bike!
