Uploaded with ImageShack.usI found this diagram and was wondering if it will work? I keep finding different diagrams that contradict each other. I have a '76 XS650 with the pamco ignition and the radio shack rectifier and napa regulator set up. for electronics I have a headlight, tail light, and a neutral indicator. also what wire can I use to wire in a charging fail light?

NAPA makes both types of regulators, so we will have to know what the part number is of the NAPA regulator that you are currently using to determine if the wiring diagram will work with that model or not.
The charging system failure light uses the normally closed set of contacts from the safety relay to turn on an indicator light if the alternator stops working. The safety relay is operated by the yellow wire that is shown as not used in this diagram.

I Have the VR292. It has the orange wire, so I was stoked about that. I've read before that you need to use nylon screws to attach the brushes to the stator, is this true? This is my first time wiring up a bike, thank you for your help.

With the vr292 you use the diagram you posted as is, and you don't use nylon screws.

Thanks for the help!! Im deployed right now but will be back in the states in a few days.. I hope to have the bike done before Christmas... over the last six months I've read a lot on wiring and everyone has their own little input and different set ups. I liked your diagram the most and I am stoked it actually works!! cant wait to try it out!

I bought the same hand controls that you used, where did you get the banjo bolt switch? do you know what size it is? I found a 7/16" - 24 and a 3/8" -24.

You have the Demon's Cycle controls? They take 3/8"-24 banjo bolt switch.

Yea, I think I got the last set... My buddy tried to order them and they are all sold out. Are they pretty nice? I was pretty shocked at how cheap they were compared to other sets..

Well, that is a real bummer. I've been meaning to order another set. The sort of good news is that they should eventually get more, but it might take several months. Yes, they are nice. I have not seen another set of switch-less controls that comes close without paying twice as much. My one complaint is that I had a little seepage from the banjo bolt, and it started removing the black paint from the caliper. That caliper will eventually need to be powdercoated. It seems like the banjo bolt washers compressed over time -- I guess next time they should be checked and tightened a month or so after installation.

Thanks for the link, but that is not the same thing at all, it is just a stock-style Harley control. That has big flanges and an angled part that sticks out, both of which are meant to accept switch housings. If you don't use switch housings, it looks weird.

undercoverbro, I emailed Demon's asking when they would have those controls again, and I got an answer in just a couple of hours (and on a Saturday...). They claim they will have them in two weeks...
