This is my latest project. I thought I would have been finished months ago but we all know how that goes at times. I am close. I need to finish the wiring and have a few tabs welded on for the tank and coil mount - plus a few hundred other things. But it's close. Maybe I will get a ride in before winter sets in around DC. Please note: I did not destroy the frame to build this bike. I bought it this way. But it is an 81 frame so it's not so scarce. picasaweb.google.com/roryinmd/Hardtail?authkey=Gv1sRgCJqsicOn3uOU9wE&feat=directlink

Geezerman - I appreciate the comment, thanks. I updated the captions to make a few of the pics clearer to what was going on. Madmax - in the very least the vids are from the same era as the bike.

I wanted to post an update on this build. After three years I finally have the bike on the road. There are a few minor things (really minor) that I need to tweak but it is otherwise road worthy. My painter also has some Cadillac Pearl White paint so we will strip the bike down one more time and paint the tank and fender with that. I have learned a lot from this build and from riding it (it's not a daily rider nor a long distance ride) and I appreciate all the time, effort, ideas, and beer that everyone put into it or me. The link in my first post has the lastest pictures in it. Let me know what you think.

I am thinking, you are crazy, BUT that does NOT matter. I am thinking, all the 650 riders in Maryland, and surrounding states, should aggree to meet (with bikes) In Frederick MD (center of state)... at a parking lot, like that of Fredericktown Yamaha .. say on July 4th, 12 noon, and grab a bite to eat, from the Blues roast beef place, next door. And look at the bikes in person. Let me know what you think. Preston

Thanks Preston. If we all weren't a little crazy we would be insane and I am definitely a little crazy. It is a wild ride for sure but so cool. It's plain, simple and raw. Kids cry, women faint and a lot of people smile when I ride by! Everyone asks what it is. I am cool and in with meeting up. I will ride my other bike though. I don't want to ride the hardtail to Frederick AND back in the same day. Not that MJ is any smoother of a ride. Get a notice out to the local guys to get the event started. You should stop by my house one day also to see what I have and help with with some tune up issues.
