My new project has 'custom' wiring, it's been done neatly to do away with safety relays, elec starter, etc. It's a 'C' motor. My query is the condensor. It isn't wired in & seeing other wiring is well done not sure why. On a standard bike i assume the orange wire from coils which is only about 3 inches long plugs into a 2 plug connector with the other wire being from the condensor this then plugs into points wire -so this is a wire with a 2 plug one end & 1 plug the other going into the points wire? This bike only has one wire running from coil direct to points. Would bike run like this If i put in this intermediate connector either wire from condensor will work?? Thanks in advance.

No, you won't get spark without the condenser. Be sure the ring connector on the condenser pack is cleanly grounded on a head stay bolt. You're correct re. wiring--each coil lead splits, with one wire to a condenser and one wire to one of the points sets.

Thanks for reply. As mentioned wiring is 'custom' up to coils. My understanding of the wiring diagrams one coil has the grey wire to power & orange to points & the other coil has the orange wire to power & grey to points?? Is this correct or can't i follow a straight line in the wiring diagrams!!!! Whatever the answer to the above, do i run a 1 into 2 connector wire, with the single end to the coil wire(the wire going to points not the power wire) & the 2 connector one to condensor & the other the wire from points. This is done seperate for each coil or do i have to wire in the condensor differently? My experience is with later model single coil/TCI bikes so this is all new. Thanks in advance

The stock coils I've seen have an orange and a brown wire. The brown hooks to one of the red/white power wires from the harness (there are 2, one for each coil), the orange runs to a points set. The wiring diagrams show the coils with an orange or gray wire running to the points but I don't think they're made that way, all I've seen have an orange wire. The short "jumper" wire you described should be opposite from how you said. You will need 2, one for each coil. The single connector should be at the coil orange wire and the double back by the condenser pack. By the condensers, one points lead and one condenser wire will plug into each double connector. Originally, the 2 wires with double connectors were orange or gray to match up to the orange or gray wire from a points set. In the pic below, you can see the orange points wire and one of the black condenser leads connected to the orange double connector. Below it and not as easy to see (because the plug wire is in the way) is the gray double connection to gray points wire and other black condenser lead ..... In it's stock configuration, the gray wire will run to the upper right cylinder set of points and the orange wire will run to the lower left cylinder points.
