Folks: Does anyone have a photo, of a mounted coil # 17-6903... 82 Kv. I have gone on Pete's web page, (and I have seen the mounted green coil, like on my 77), but i would like to mount the new black two wire high output coil on my 75 650. (the photo for this coil, is shown on a 81 type bike).. I would like to be able to run the two plug wires, in pretty much the stock location, and i am just not sure i can do that easily, with the new 17-903 coil. I will be purchasing the Pamco Ignition system, and I just want to get the best bang for my buck, without going crazy with modifications, and I want the plug wires to exit in such a manor, that they head toward the carbs, like they are now. Thanks for your advise or direction. Preston

preston, What grinder over at xs650.com did was to take a short length of 1 1/2" X 1/8 in thick aluminum plate and drill 4 holes in it. Two of the holes are for the coil using the supplied standoffs and two match up with the holes for one of the stock coils. This will position the coil with the plug wire "towers" pointing across the cross bar and exiting on the other side to provide clearance for the tank tunnel. www.amckayltd.com/coil mounting.jpg[/img] I have added this picture to the web site with credit to grinder

Pete,, Thanks for the photo, I appreciate it... (ie, i can do that) I have to ask, just in case, do the plug wires, supplied by Mikes, #Part #14-0914, have sufficient length to arrive at the plugs ? (relaxed, not taunt) I ask this, due to my first experience, some years ago. I want to go forward on this new set up, of yours. preston

preston, As far as I know, yes, but you may have to route one of the wires to come to one of the plugs from the front. If so, then you could mount the coil on the right side with the wires exiting on the left and go to the right side plug from the front to orient the"NGK" right side up on both plugs, if you are interested in symmetry. Not an NGK cap, but you get the idea.

Hi Pete,, I am digging into this today... I do want my two new plug wires to exit as original route. I do not care, if the NGK cap is up side down. It looks like my turn signal relay, is right where the new 17-6903 coil needs to sit. I will report back later, any hints or suggestions are appreciated. regards Preston
