Before and after pix of my first ground-up project. Originally an '81 Special basket case (click on the thumbnails to see the full-res photos): - Stripped frame and powdercoated. - Rebuilt top end with 680cc cylinders/pistons from Mike's XS, Shell type 1 cam. - X Pipe, w/generic end baffles (closest I could find to TT-style pipes - always a favorite). - Originally 36mm Mikuni VM round slides w/generic pod filters, changed to Mike's XS Performance Carb Kit (32mm Keihin Flatslide PWK carbs, manifolds, K&N clone filters). - Stock dual front discs. - 19" rear wheel adapter from unknown maker. - Stock tank. - Seat by Hotwing Glass. - Plastic front fender from unknown maker. - Rattlecan paint job (not great, but all I can afford for now). (the bike behind it in the first pictrure is the '79 XS which is going to be my cafe project - assuming I can get a title for it. Got both on eBay for $400, so I can't complain) Thanks for looking!

Can't figure out how to properly upload pictures here. I used the "Host It" button, uploaded them to the ImageShack site, but then what? Tried several times, but are they just waiting to be approved, or have I missed something here? Do i use the direct image URL somewhere? Are there instructions for this? I couldn't find any. Thanks!

I use photo bucket, but the process should be the same for other image hosting sites. Use the "insert image" tool above the smiley faces, so you end up with this: ![]() [/img] go to your image hosting site, and copy the url link for the image you want to post. paste that url between the two bracketed "img"s. Preview your post. Also, to avoid overloading the server and thus angering the XS Gods, make sure your image is a reasonable size... I think there is a "ruelbook" post somewhere on this board pertaining to that. Looking forward to seeing your street tracker.

Chuck is right - if the image is more than 650 pixels wide, it takes the server forever to properly resize the pictures so you can see them.... I'm not sure about ImageShack, but in Photobucket, they even put the ![]() [/img] parts around the url and set it up so it's a quick copy to your clipboard, so you just have to click it once, then paste it into your posting.

On some places you can just post a thumbnail of your pic and keep the big high res photo off the board - usually the thumbnail works as a link to the better pic.

That's what I did - no more fiddling with it! Thanks for the tips.

Nice looking bike. I am in the Silver Spring area - Glenmont - so I am right down the street from you. I have quite a few extra parts lying around the garage so feel free to ding me if you are looking for something. Do you ever go to the Ale House?

Thanks. Yeah you are like 5 min. from me. I'm at the end of Emory Church Rd., on the right as you come up Geo. Ave., oppositye the Roots, etc. (where the old Silo Inn used to be, if you've been around here long). I ocasionally make it to the Ale House, with a biking buddy. Where are pix of your bikes?

The link didn't work. Here's my email: chenglar@msn.com. I forget to check this board, and not sure how to set it up for email alerts of postings.
Maybe take a ride sometime? I'm on vacation this Thurs. through next Wed. My regular riding buddy (has a real nice, newer Kawasaki W650) is away then also, so maybe later this month? Let me know. Glad to see there's another XS650 addict nearby!
