The VJMC is hosting a swap meet and show at the White Rose Motorcycle Club in York County, PA August 19, 20 & 21. Last year was the first time I made it out, and I decided to make it an annual trip, since it is only a little over an hour away from home. There are plenty of campsites available, showers, air conditioned club house with hot food (food is edible. This is a MC Club, after all...). There was a good showing of bikes and parts for sale, but being that it is rural Pennsylvania, it is very MX heavy. So a few more Yamaha XS's wouldn't hurt at all. This event is not a 1%er or "biker lifestyle" crowd... just a bunch of vintage bike enthusiasts. The hosts don't get too worried about enforcing all the cooler limit and other rules, which is fine by me, as I didn't see people getting out of hand. If I am not dead or the place hasn't flooded, I will be there with my recently road-legal '77 XS (metallic green paint). I plan on setting up camp on Friday night, or getting there early on Saturday, and staying through Sunday's morning show. Stop by my site for a cold beer or two. Well, at least you two are riding your bikes in. I probably will be trailering. I'm planning on taking two bikes... one to sell and one to enter into the show. Haven't figured out how to ride them both simultaneously, but if I do figure that out, I'll be sure to let you know.
Reminder... starts today through weekend. Severe T-storms (hail & strong wind possible) this afternoon in the forecast. Radar shows some nasty stuff rolling through western PA this morning, so looks like it could get rough for the vendors; otherwise looks like it will be good weather for the weekend.
Given the storms today, I'll be there tomorrow am, camping out and staying for sunday's show. I'll have my green XS and my red SRX250 (for sale). Hope to see some of you there.
Hi CW.. I wondering, why I did not see your Lime Green 650.. had tons of fun, looking at tons of STUFF, and bikes... There are 3- 75-77 vintage 650 seats, and one 1980 style... $30 to $80. and 10e, if you read this, see JACK, at back right vendor space (he has a beat 72- 650 out front),,, he has a set, front and rear MAGS with rotor, the front rim 2 rotors, with new tire,, $25. My son has bought (and since we could not bring it home on the 650s, we take back a trailer) a 1966 red 160 Honda ( sorry ),,, and I will make an offer on a very used 650, primary to grab the front end,, and since it has spoke rims, you will not be interested in it ( so STAY away from it, and don't come early) .... As I walked up, for $ 800 bucks, and the guy was closing his deal.,, and drove it away, sounded purrrfectly pretty,,, New owner, Kevin the chop saw...he says he will add it to his other 12 XS's, and chop them up. and THE ChuckWagon bike looked sweet ! joshua: The regulator/rectifier unit I got from Mikes PMA has closer hole spacing than original. Are we supposed to mill the holes to fit?

joshua: My bad. I found the bracket they supplied to mount the rectifier/regulator... Uh oh. How is this meant to work? Which way is it meant to mount? Looks like I have to use some spacers or something. Good instructions would be nice.

craig8johnson: I'm checking the charging system. I'm afraid I might have fried the last battery. With the solid state regulator (after market) what should it be charging at. The book says, I think, 15 volts. I'm hitting 17 when revved. Is that too high?

gggGary: Yes 17 volts is too high, about 14 volts is max, sounds like you don't have the right regulator or it's wired wrong.

tt650: Trying to breathe life into a 1980 that's been stored (indoors) for 25 yrs. Air filters are dry rotted. Have cleaned carbs but she only runs briefly on choke then stops. Need jet setting info and other ideas that might help her idle and rev.

trix13: Hey everyone! New to the forum and am fighting those gremlins!! New charging system, ignition switch, coil and fuse box. Resistance is higher than normal on the ignition pick up so I'm trying to find one. No such luck yet.

trix13: Also, even though all of my connections are clean, I cannot seem to find out why , when at higher rpms, I hit the signals and the rpms pulse with the signals...hahah. same with the brake light. I appreciate all input!!

louisvan: trix13 - I had a problem with my 1975 SX650. When I got to highway speeds, the engine lost power. The problem was in the connectors. At a certain vibration and the wind pushing on the wiring loom, the connector lost continuity. A bad crimp to the wire.

deadlykittin: loses compression after the first kick. Ontop of that, i noticed it 1, wont go into neutral when sitting still. and now it dies after getting it started in neutral and going into gear
