Checking the oil level as Tom described, I found it at about 9" down with the stock amount. I felt that was too low. Adding about an ounce more so the amount was near 7 ounces raised the level to 7". So it appears that each half ounce of oil raises the level about an inch in these forks. I have a little homemade fork oil leveling tool. It's nothing more than some brass tubing with an adjustable stop and a plastic syringe on the top to suck the excess oil out. Use is simple - slightly overfill the tubes then set the stop to the level you want and suck the extra out .....

Bike is back together. I got to go for a short ride before the rain fell. The ride is much smoother and the dive problem has been solved. In the end I drilled the top holes to 3/32" and the bottom four holes to 1/4". Added 15wt Bel Ray fork oil to six inches from the compressed top and added new springs. Will actually corner now without the feeling of having a hinge in the frame. I also installed a new front sport fender. I purchased this from Mike's over a year ago. To keep it from being damaged I left it in the original packing. I never saw it until I pulled it out for the install. What a disappointment. I hope it functions as promised because the rattle can finish leaves a lot to be desired. Thanks for all the help during my time of need. Ron
