I have a 75 xs, stock, except for a Sparx kit replacing the alt. The battery is new/charged. Recently, when the ignition was turned on, (engine off), the neutral light would light up, but if I either turned the headlight on, or turned the blinkers on, or pressed the horn button, or pressed pedal for rear brake, the neutral light would go out and I would have no power. I could wait a minute and the power would come back, but now I get nothing - no power at all. I have checked wiring for grounding but found nothing. Does anyone have an idea where I could look? Thanks

are you sure that your battery is fully charged? What you describe sounds like a battery that has just a tiny surface charge. It goes totally dead as soon as you put any load on it then climbs back up enough to lignt a tiny insturment bulb if you let it sit for awhile.
Sure sounds like a dead battery.
Has your engine run since you put in the Sparx, and if so did you check to see what voltage it was putting out?

Only sure-fire way to check the battery is a load test. Usually it's easier just to put it on a charger overnight.
