Well, I have been out of this forum for a while since my bike has been running excellent for about a year.
The bike was running excellent until last week, when I went to turn the bike on, it seemed a bit sputtery, but as soon as it warmed up it seemed to smooth out. I took it for a ride and as soon as I tried to gun it. the bike just wanted to die on me. It did not want to acelerate hard at all and anything ovcer 60 mph was asking too much.
I had not touched the bike in about 4 days only. I adjusted my mikunis thinking it was maybe running reach since the teps had gone way high since the week before last. I tried leaning it out and nothing.
Anyhow. I checked my carbs, and they are clean as a wissle, pilot, mains, verything. bowls were mirror cleaned.
I asked around and they said usually electrical stuff is the only stuff to go bad like that overnight and without warning.
So then I decided to check the coil.
I have a XS performance coil from Mike's XS (the green one with 75Kv) 17-6810
Specs say the primary should read 3.3 ohm and the secondaries 15K OHM
My results were: Primary 3.6 secondaries- with the ohm meter set at 20K it read- 8.29 and 8.20
Does this mean my coil is trash?
Please let me know ASAP as I need to ride this weekend for a rally event.

If I planned on riding a rally event this weekend I'd be getting my hands on a new coil ASAP. If you've got a Harley dealer nearby, pamcopete recommends the Harley 17131 coil as a substitute for Mike's Green Monster. This is pamcopete's picture of the Harley coil mounted in his '78E;

Thanks Bubba, Turns out I went ahead and ordered one from Mikes XS since I needed a few other things from there anyhow. I should receive the col by Thursday. I'll let you know how things turned out.
