My Gosh that is a good looking bike! It is truely wonderful how the small changes you made turned a close to stock D into a much better looking roadster.
I really like the mufflers. What exactly are they and are they mounted to the stock '77 head pipes? Is the inside straight through? Loud? Deep tone?

Thanks Tom. The silencers(mufflers ) are pattern BSA A65 , straight-through 'absorbtion' type mated to Halco 1.5" headers. Ive used a similar pipe/header setup on all mine for the last 20 years (though sometimes pre-1970 Triumph T120 mufflers which look the same but are shorter). Tried plenty of others but these really uncork the motor letting me pull on 18t F & 31t Rear sprockets. Shown here with both the VM34's & BS38's - I swap around depending on where Im riding

Sweet! Looks like an XS-1 front brake and would you call those cans "cocktail shakers"?

xs1961 I understand,, the reason i asked,, Is that I was the kind of guy, who took my forks and drum off the 2 year old 1971 XS.. and put on new 1972 forks with "disk brake" (what a differance) Recently, I upgraded my 75 front brake & forks, to 81, BUT i kept the nice stock 75 "old school fender" .. and I noticed you had a 77 type front fender, and mounting holes in the fork tubes, for the caliper, thus I had to ask. Have a great day, and you have a NICE bike ! Preston

61' I have a set of BSA mufflers new from 1968 but I am running a Mlkes copy of Brit pipes. They do sound great but the quality does not compair to my BSA mufflers.

frame is powdercoated . The engine has a light coat of standard rattle can auto paint, Ford 'strato silver'. Its been on there for a few thousand miles,no need for 'high temp' paint if you apply sparingly onto a well prepped ,luke-warm engine . Are those Mikes mufflers stuffed full of baffles?

Mike's mufflers are not baffled much.
