Thanx, preston. They're both `71s, I preferred the 'british racing green' of the `70, didn't much care for the gold, unintentially fools people...

Welcome aboard! I hope you like it here! What happens when you get threemany or fourmany? If you're like the rest of us, you're already there!
That chopper looks like a step right through a time portal! What are your plans for it?

Hi, jetmechmarty. Sorry for the delayed response, didn't log back in during that time and figured this thread was dead.
Haha, 'step thru the time portal'. Happens everytime I step into my barn. Built the chopper back in late `74, nobody fussed about hacking an XS back then. Disassembled it in 78-79. A good friend worked in a polish/chrome shop and said "Give me everything!". So, I gave him everything but the frame, tank, cases, cyls, head. Shortly after getting that back, I transferred to a new job 1000 miles away. Everything got boxed-up and crated. After 34 years, all that chrome is still shop-wrapped, in boxes that I haven't opened. The '256' engine is still crated, quite modified, and needs careful reassembly.
The other 'stock' bike needs an overhaul. Have most of the parts for that, now. Just need to build another shop or extension to the barn to get back into this...

4 sure that green tank says "vintage Yamaha 650" a lot louder than the gold one. It will be great to see your "time capsule" chopper emerge as you get it road worthy.

Hey Burns! Think about you everytime I make a 'tex-mex' run...
Speaking of time capsule, try to find the 1975 Peter Fonda flic 'Race against the devil', John's shop is in the first coupla minutes...

Howdy 2M. Glad to see you over here in the XS650 Vatican.
Wish you hadn't mentioned my favorite grub. I'm sure missin' the Blanco Café up here in the Great NorthWet. They think a chalupa is some sort of deep fried flour tortilla thing stuffed with god knows what. Horrible.
Miss the sunshine too. It's 20 degrees and icey today and wet at least a couple of days every week. My old twin won't see much asphalt for a while.
I'll check out that Fonda flick.
Happy Holidays to ya Pod-Nah.
