My 1978 special with the slightly stepped hinge seat needs a new look. It is covered with a sadflemen cover which looks good but so plain vanilla. To give a european Flair I would like to go to an upholstered café style seat. My Hinged seat seems to be excluded from the variety of café seats out there. I prefer to find something ready made rather than school around with removing the cover and chopping up the foam. I like the idea of having the café seat as well as the standard seat off the special that I can switch back-and-forth with a little effort Will post a work in progress in here as soon as i figure out how to from an iphonr. Help!

Thanks for the link. Will check this out. Hopefully i can find a plain one with no Yamawho script. At the moment Yam is written in 8 places on my bike. Even really drunk I can remember the brand. If confused I can wear an appropriate T shirt as a helping hand. Again thanks for the link. I am used to high shipping costs living in Canada but will ship to a USA address , less hassle. Will post a pic of the bike as soon as i figure out how to!

I ordered up my seat about 10 days ago Made a bunch of changes to the 1979 yamaha special seat with side hinges. Medium brown cafe seat with lighter tan piping and no Yamawho logo. Had them stitch the seat pad itself so it would be a little more retro. Gives it bands about 1.5 inches wide. Should look good on my british racing green xs650 that also has dechromed and painted fenders to match . More details soon. $200 plus 90$ of shipping.

My seat has arrived. Once I ordered the seat I realized i had name a mistake. Emailed back and received a prompt reply. Crap did this two more times and then why not a 4th time to eliminate the Yamaha name. Yep i was confused. The order was shipped 4 days later in my color choices with no logo and the custom stitching I wanted. They got it all right. Perfection! Medium brown was more red than I expected. It is growing on me and soon i will claim it was my choice just as is. The stitching and stretching and fit are great. I am extremely critical of workmanship in general and This scores a perfect 10. Shipping took 13 days. Pretty dang reasonable. Its on the other side of the world. No complaints from me.
