Need an o-ring (ok, an oblong seal) for my 1981 XS650. It is NOT a round o-ring and it's not one of those for the late 70s 650 bikes. Please believe me; it is oblong. It is very similar to the tank to petcock seal that is oblong but has 2 cross members. Mine does not use/have the cross members.

It is still available from Yamaha and that may be your best bet for assured quality.

Yeah, Steve, we know it's oblong, but you don't need to be concerned about anything besides the diameter and fuel resistance of the stock. Get a big O-ring made of the right stuff and a tube of super glue. Cut the material to length, join the ends with super glue (does a great job on synthetic rubbers), and lay your new seal in the groove. If it doesn't want to hold position, use a little Gasgacinch.
