Salutations from the Republic of Panama. I am working on a 1979 XS650. This is my second rebuild. The first is an '83 Honda GL1100. Had fun tearing the Goldwing down and rebuilding... thought I move onto a bike that I always wanted. So I searched city by city on Craig's List and found a bike in Kansas City, Kansas. Lucky for me, I have a brother who lives in Kansas City and picked it up for me. 6 months later I flew up to Kansas and boxed it with a crate I ordered a few weeks earlier from www.quickcrate.com. The bike was in good condition for its time. The gas tank was very rusted and it would need new brakes and brake lines. The previous owner said it needed a need charging systema and always wanted to install an electronic ignition. A few days later a truck arrived to take it to Miami, Florida. There it would travel by ship to Panama. I'll continue in the next post.

Yep, that's what it looks like--the last year of the Standard model, which is the rarest XS650. Congrats on a great find.
