1980 650G with cast aluminum rims. The left bearing just drops into the hole. I can move it up and down with my fingers. Never seen that happen before. What do you think? Defective part? Worn out hub? Oh no I didn't say that.

Let's begin with the obvious. Are you trying to install the correct bearing? 6305-2RS Did you remove the old bearing? Does it match the new one?

Yes. Correct bearing. I am being told not to ride it. That I can loctite it into place. Humm. I rode about 50 miles yesterday. Mountain and valley riding not ove 70mph. Damn I don't want to buy another rim.

Marty. I got the parts from Miles. Part number 93306-30437-00. Rim is from an 81 SH I think. Part number matches Yamaha parts list. It did look the same. Old one came out pretty easy.

Did the old bearing seize? It seems it would have had to in order to damage the wheel. The SH wheel is cast with a drum brake. Is that what you have? Those aren't too easy to come by as XS650 wheels go. If you have a spoke wheel, there should be plenty of those. Any drum XS650 wheel can donate the hub.

That's the wheel. It smoked going down Rt70 at 80mph. I just been in the garage bonding the bearing in with JB Weld. Hope this works.

I don't think that's something I'd be willing to try. Good luck!

Well it's a done deal. Rode about 250 miles on it and it's work just fine. Of coarse I will never be able to get it out again without a torch. I'm happy so far. Got to ride
