Well, I broke a mtg bolt on the master cyl a couple years ago. My friend gave me one from his XS 850. Which comes with dual disc. That's cool I want to convert over to dual in the future. The future is here. While ordering a rebuild kit from MM, he told me not to use the larger cyl. They have a hard pill to them. Which is correct. So I dug out the old stock one and rebuilt it. Went to mount it that's when I remembered it the a broken bolt. Not only is it broken, when I tied to get the bolt out, the drill walked and took out the inside edge. So now a 1/8 of the hole is gone. Took it to work and friend with machine shop got the bolt out with an end mill. Since the hole is deep I am tapping more threads down there and will use a longer bolt. The machinist saved my butt on this since I already had rebuilt the cyl.YAHOO. Dual disc finally. After 8 years of owning it. Can't stop now.

Ha ha, that's how I justify having a garage full of machine tools. "See Honey, I was able to fix this part instead of buying a new one. I'm saving us money."
Good call on using the smaller master cylinder. When I had my XS750 I put on a smaller master and it greatly improved the power and feel of the dual disk setup.

On my 77' D.. I had dual disc and a stock m/cylinder... for years... as in over 20... never had a problem... with the exception of the caliper slides would sometimes stick over winter storage.

Yea yesterday was a nice day, but today is better temp. I got the brakes working pretty good I think. Rode it down the street a couple times. I'm gonna take it up on the mountain today and try it out. I broke my brake light switch. Oops. No brake lights today.

I guess to close this thread up, any more and it will have to be moved. I'll report the brakes work very well. But Preston, they don't stop on a dime.
