Good Morn'n ! Been awhile since I posted.. visit often... but every question is answer'd by someone brighter then me. Started my 82' ... last year had a electoral issue... rotor went south. The stock unit went toast..I had another 82' engine.. toss'd that rotor on.. it lasted about abut 5 yrs.. when toast. So I got one from 650 Central. I have a voltage meter (digital) on the 82' and on the first ride of the season it indicated " summers on ! ". I highly recommend one of these meters. The meter alerted me to the problem while out in the boonies... without it I may have been stuck in a Iowa corn field. My 70' and 72' will be kick'd into summer shortly...others in the stable will follow. Hope everyone has a great summer. I'v signed up for the several events.

Good call on the rotor from 650 Central Mike! Those are American rewinds, and while they may cost about the same as a new Chinese repop, they'll last longer than you or I will. They're higher quality than OE; since they're wound with heavier wire than Mama Yama wanted to pay for, they operate at around 20% lower resistance, thus at lower temp.
I'm planning on going the the VJMC national do at Mitchell, IN in June. Hope to see you there if that one is on your list.

May have to do that event... June is pretty much book'd. The local VJMC and the AMC chapter have combined shows at the fairgrounds. This years theme bike for the VJMC presentation is .. 450 Honda... I'm try'n to get mine ready in time. One yr the theme was XS 650... at the main entrance we had a roll of XS Yamaha's.. 70-83... very popular with the public. I'll be at Road America.. but my buddy Mark will show my Honda. If it's ready. I'v been busy help'n a friend... marks650yamahas... we do 650's.. 450 Hondas.. and 305 Super Hawks. Most of our customers are from across both ponds. When we tell people.. a 650 restoration starts at $6000.oo.. they usually bail on the project. But chrome work and paint is nearly $3000.oo... One of my buddies... coop's corner (blog) ... recently got a XS 650 Special... long neglected ... got it running.. and he's very pleased with it..he has several bikes and has found this is one of his fav's for the Wisconsin county roads. He's also a Honda Helix fan. I have been chase'n him for several years... He found a very nice one... and since I got him to get the XS.. I got the Helix.. sold my Cushman and Stella..and I have to admit.. it's a barrel of monkeys... fun... to ride.. both the wife and I .. on the freeway.. no problem. In June.. three of us.. all on Honda Helix.. are attend'n a weekend BMW rally.
