Hi,
Hopefully you guys can help me out here. I'm a brandnew XS650 rider from Denmark and I'm a total rookie in this world so be gentle guys The problems startet when the bastard shot the carburetor out of the socket from the cylinder. I plugged it back together but it was just dead. I ordered a kit for the carburetor and took it apart and replaced and cleaned everything I could get my hands on. Now it starts and there is smoke coming out of both exhausts but it only runs (poorly) on one cylinder! When i turn off the engine alot of gas is dripping from the bottom of the left carburetor and there is water/oil dripping from the left exhaust as well! The right exhaust is burning hot after a short spin down the runway and back. I'm ready to just run it into the harbour and my wife isn't exactly pleased with the latest addition in the garage

Re. carbs, Dennis, read the Carb Guide. You probably have an ignition problem as well. Follow the manual instructions, check timing with a strobe, and tell us what you've found. Also check your oil. If oil level is high and oil smells of fuel, let us know.

hi dennis: gas on the outside of the left carb indicates that fuel level in that carb is running too high which is caused by the float/needle problem. the high level would flood that cylinder. that is a start and hopefully the finish of your problems. how was it running before it backfired? fred
