This is my 1981 XS650 Special II that I just recently got running. I've spent the last couple of months working on it, I just recently got most of the rust off of the chrome. It had been sitting in a barn for the past 13 years.

Nice Job! You might find that if you loosen the handlebars and rotate tham backwards towards the rider that it will be more comfortable.

Thanks for the tip growl - I'll give it a try - I'm still getting everything adjusted as I get used to riding it.

Nice stock ride.... Please don't Bobber-Tracker it. Ref your h-bars.... I make the levers tight enough to rotate by hand. If the bike falls over the lever...usually....rolls and doesn't break. It's still gets scratched... ... but it doesn't break while out and about. Mike, MN

Thanks for the compliment and tips Mike. I intend to keep it stock, I really like it as it is. I even like the sissy bar on it - plus I'd never get my wife to ride with me without it. I see you're a fellow Minnesotan - there are a couple of us 650 owners here in Rochester - where in Minnesota are you from?

I, too, have been noticing that Minnesota seems to be well represented on this forum. Rochester, especially. I, too, plan to rejoin the ranks of the SEMN650 owners by fall. Just need to get rehired by the clinic... SEMN650....looks a little dirty, doesn't it.... Damian.

Hey Damian721,
Hope you make it back on at the clinic - If you make it to Rochester, let me know. We'll have to get all the SEMN 650's together and have our own mini Rally.

I'll definitely look you guys up. Getting back on with the clinic *should* be a breeze (yea for not burning my bridges!). Just waiting out my girlfriend's archaeology field season... And mountain riding is a blast! Damian.
