hey guys im getting started cleaning up my engine. i've polished all the covers and cleaned up everthing else. so heres my question. im using a dremel to polish everything and ive gone through the three polishing pad that came with my original kit. i am scuffing the really bad weathered spots first and then polishing them with never dull. although it is a 100% improvement i am not happy with the result. does anyone have any suggestions on material to use on the covers. anything that could be adapted to use with my dremel. Also i am going to polish my cylinder fins and they are really rough. i plan to poish them up all inside the fins and then paint the fin edges black opposite of how ive seen things done in the past. i really want to bring out the shine in this old engine i dont care how long it takes me i just want to find the right tools and material so i dont work my butt off and keep getting the same results. thanks for any help i really need it. trebchopper

Go to "Project " page 4 you might wanna put the Dremel to the side and purchase a buffer thats meant to produce the results your looking for....JACK

well ive changed my mind again. i recently bought a set of advance covers that were glass beaded. wow do they ever look sharp. i have decided to go with that look through out the engine, wheels, and fork legs. thanks for the info on page 4 of projects i may do some polishing on the next project. trebchopper

If you go the route of a glass bead look ;)I found that the cleaning agents Comet or Ajax give the best results in maintaing that look of glass beaded by bleaching the aluminum to maintain that white appearance........jack
