I glass beaded my engine covers and sprayed them with #1634 low gloss black engine enamal by "Dupli-color" and they look quite good. I'm happy with the results. BTW, it matches the expensive powder coating I put on the frame. Cheers, 50gary

Started stripping my new xs down to the frame and should be ready to start preping for the paint next week but my question is what is the best way to strip the old paint off and what do I sand with afterwords?? I have a small sand blaster and can get some nice paint guns from my friends. I don't want it to look perfect but i would like it to look good mostly doing it for the learning exsperience.

I'm not an expert on paint, but I can tell you a couple of things not to do. I had to learn the hard way. If you go buy sand, real sand like you'd find on a beach, you'll create a pretty rough surface. It will knock the rust and old paint off, though. Regular sand can also hold moisture and will clog the gun every few minutes. It's still better than stripping chemicals and elbow grease. If you're ever cleaning an auto body panel, don't get any sand close. Blasting large panels will warp them because the sanding generates uneven heat.
