Have you ever been out with the wife shopping because she wants you to go? It’s just one of the duties, if you know what I mean. Anyway my mind is not usually on the shopping because of all the distractions. To get to the point of this post I have been in a few stores that carry these polished cast aluminum dishes and vases (just one of the distractions). For months every time I go by them I pick one up and think what could I use this, or part of this for besides a vase. In the discount stores (Ross or TJ Max) they are really cheap and there are many different sizes and shapes. So last weekend I was looking at some and bought one for only $5. (See picture). I had an idea for this piece a bought because once I spent a lot of time grinding down the YAMAHA insignia on the clutch side cover and it broke from my bike tipping over and the brake lever punching a hole in it. Since then I always wanted to come up with an artistic way to cover it and maintain the side cover strength. So here is the start of my decorating it’s not fastened yet or completely shaped but this is an idea of what you may be able to do with some of this material. There are so many different shapes of these vases I think someone with a great imagination could really dress up some things on their bike such as the tank or side covers.

Mark,
I can see why you liked the vase for creative ideas, it is a very cool shape. As soon as I saw the vase I thought of sawing off the base and using it as a muffler. Well there isn't any way it would muffler but it would look cool on the end of a pipe. It sort of looks like a stylized rocket combustion chamber and nozzle.
