I'm in the process of restoring a "71 X1B and need a source or recommendation for the candy gold paint. I can do the painting myself with all the proper equipment, (gun and breathing appartus) Just need info on the paint. PPG or ? Please advise. Thanks, RAM  |

i was wonderingif you finished the paint. i`m doing the same project only red/white. i`m thinking the white basecoat adds the sheen that makes the paint look candy. i dont think its an actuall candy finish allthough it might be a nice custom look with it. i`m going to consult a local m/c painter and see if he knows for shure. i can paint but if the price is right maybe just have him do it as well.

I have not finished the painting, been too busy lately. I plan on going to the local PPG dealer to see if they can match the paint on a good original surface of the bike.
I'll post what I find out.
