Does anyone have a suggestion for a good rust neutralizer for a gas tank?
I have a '59 Ducati Bronco tank that I'm using for my current project. I've cleaned up the tank and found that all of the grime from years of neglect came right off and the paint is immaculate, silver and black with a gold pinstripe, looks awesome.
But there are a couple of small rust spots where the paint chipped, and rather that having body work done, I'd like to just neutralize the rust and keep the original, somewhat imperfect look.
Any ideas?

Mike, I've used "RustMort" from SEM. Remove any loose rust with a wire brush or sand paper. apply a very light thin (even say mist) of the product.Allow to dry overnight in a warm dry area and cover with some paint. The reason for the light amount is that these products are acid based and need to react with the metal surface. If it is to heavy the extra acid can't reach the metal to react and stays active. When you put the paint over it the acid can attack the paint causing blisters to form. You have to put a paint over it because these products can't weather being exposed and after a short while they wear away and fail allowing the rust the start over. Rust needs air and water so once you remove it you must stop the air and water from getting to the metal again. Greg
