I'm taking my engine apart, and I'm toying with the idea of polishing the entire engine and then putting on a clear coat to keep the aluminum from oxidizing.
Being that the xs650 is an air cooled engine, I"m worried that the paint will increase the engine temperature. Is this true or am I worrying over nothing?

There will be a slight increase in temp. As long as clearcoat isn't too thick it will have virtually no effect. ( polishing will have more effect on heat retention. Only numbers i remember seeing were for Vincent with enameled cases, no significant increase in temp until 'paint' thickness was around 0.015" or more. If your worried about it fit an oil cooler. PJ
