is the tune up tip mannel from 650 central.for porting your on heads for the street.and what is the best do it your self porting tool.and where can i get it.

I just use my Dremel and an assortment of cutting tips and sanding rolls. For the higher polish in the exhausts, I finish with these grit impregnated rubber tips .....

I have been looking and can't find anything like what I heard today. A friend of mine has a triumph and a 650 and he told me that a guy he knows took his head off of his motor and turned it around so that the carbs face the front and the exhaust ports face the rear. Anyone hear of this before?

It was quite common in the 70's. A few sprinters did it to mount the supercharger in front of the engine and get a stright line from carb to exhaust. It's easy with a Triumph because the head is effectively symetrical front to back. It's just a case of swapping the cams over and working out the revised timing. We also converted them to 180 degrees using the old bolt up cranks.

Thanks for responding so quickly. So are you saying it can be done fairly easily with a 650 yamaha? I am still getting my ideas together for what I want to do with the engine and this sounds pretty cool to me but at the same time I am not sure how much I can or want to modify it.

No you would run into cam tensioner issues. The Triumph is a strightforward twin cam pushrod design. You can literally unbolt the head, turn it round and bolt it up again. Check out an XS head gasket to see what you would need ot overcome.
