Hi Bob, Mine is a 81 XS650 special. Made into a kind of cafe racer style. It has new neck and swing arm bearing upgrade. A fairing from J.C. Whitney and also a lowering kit from Whitney. A two into one MAC header and muffler. A set of Norton bars with foam grips. Rebuilt carbs with foam Uni pods. I drilled the front roder and polished the lower fork legs and rebuilt and polished the caliper and added a speed bleeder. Added a filter element to the end of the breather hose.Added a Avon Speedmaster to the front and a Avon Super Venom on the rear.Added a remote spin on oil filter and stainless braided hoses. Made a new cover for the area that useto house the small oil filter element. I removed the Yamaha logo and polished the side cover. Reapolstered the seat, removed the brake light and added a side mount tail light. I am presently working on a set oe aluminum tripple trees and a aluminum chain guard. Al

ok,,ok ,, I am new to this website and my bike is new to me too . I dont have pictures yet but i found my bike on the local internet for sale stuff . Its a origional style 1978 yamaha xs 650 ,black in color,,could use a paint job . previous owner had it for 8-9 years . has 10,000 some miles on it ,plain wire spoke wheels ,,wish it had the cast spokers on , mufflers are almost shot and it has a crossover pipe which i dont know was origional on the exhaust . I would like to figgure out if the tach dial face can be replaced as it is faded some . My previous bikes were a bridgestone 350 , kawa 350 triple and kawa ke175 . The Yamaha 650 is definately a step up the ladder and right in my power range,,,,, for now The seat was redone but a shoddy job ,some of the hooks underneath are gone that hold the material so that will be tackled later on .

jeepurze ,,, i dont feel really bad about the wire spoke rims once cleaned they really shine but cleaning between the spokes is a bear and the wire spoke rims give it a classic appearance .

prairiedog....Bridgestone 350? Man, I can't tell you how many hours I sat in J.C. Penney's automotive and just stared at a new one with mucho lust. This was in '67 or 68. It had 6 gears and looked like it could fly. If I could just have one, my life would be complete...but it was something like $750 which I didn't have. I settled for a used 175 Hurricane Scrambler and was happy enough. It could beat anything in its class and some NOT in its class. Just couldn't top those rotary valves. Welcome to Yamaland.
