Lord Eoin here, I don't have a camera yet, but I do have a 1980 XS650 Special II that was the PO's project. Engine runs, but the extra and unlabeled wires and toggle switches will make me have to do a lot of rewiring so the lights front and rear will work. The only decision so far is a solo seat to replace the humungous king and queen seat that came with the bike.

Mine's a 1974 TX650A, all stock- and hopefully will remain mostly so once I've fully brought her back to life! Will take some pictures this weekend for upload.
Regards.

Sorry...I'm a dumb-arse. Mines a '79 special with low bars, custom seat, mini speedo (no original diplay or idiot lights), mini indicators front and back, '77 side covers, headlamp off a virago I think?, thats about it... This is the first time I've read this topic....again, I'm sorry. Lee.

This is my XS. Parked next to my GS1100. Picture was taken last month in it's almost completed condition. Sense then I have replace the shocks with some of MikesXS monza units, and installed the chain gaurd after trimming it down a bit and painting it black. I spent about a year of my spare time at this point and it's almost complete. It is a 79 special 2fo. I payed $800 for it, the odometer showed 10200 miles or so. The top end had been gone through by a local shop just prior to me getting it. The center crank bearings were bad.. I obtained a used crank with supposed same mileage as mine and with the help of this board and MikesXS replace it, and all the seals and gaskets, cam chain guide , oil filters ect. I put the engine back into the frame this spring and it started first or second kick. no lie. It vibrated allot, but it ran! pretty good. Then started on the Chassis and the cosmetics of the bike again almost everything came from Mikes, my brother donated the National cycle street shield, taken from his Virago ( it didn't fit it right and looked even worse on it). New springs seals and dust seals on the forks , some paint from spray bomb. New bushings, home made headlight brackets and some elbow grease. I've been fine tuning it for the last month or so.. I think I finally have it running right. I had a couple setbacks.. timing advance unit came loose and left me stranded at my first big outing with it. More recently I miss diagnosed some minor carburetor problems ( cutting out at around 5000 rpm) had a restriction in the main jet.. then complicated my life by leaving the stock air box off while I was checking it out.. dogh! It seemed to pull real hard almost to red line before cutting out when I rode it Sunday .. it's been raining here sence... so I don't know for sure. I have ordered the K&N knock offs and main jets from 137.5 ( one over ) to 145 and a one over idle jet just in case. I plan to try some replacement head pipes and or some sort of after market exhaust in the future .. If i can convince myself that there is a performance gain over the stock pipes ( still solid but showing age) to be had to make it Worth the expense. My only regret so far is not having replace the steering crown bearings with the tapered roller bearings when I had the front end apart. I just repacked the stock bearings. I have a speed wobble at 90 mph. and up.
