I rented an apartment once that looked like a nice place to live. New paint, freshly shampooed carpet, rent was reasonable. Everything looked fine so I took it.
Was out late one night soon after moving in. Came home about 2 am and flipped on the lights. Bedlam broke loose. Musta been a three inch layer of cockroaches wall to wall in that room and as soon as the light came on they began a mad scramble for the baseboards. In ten seconds the room was empty again.
I read where Abramoff has copped a plea and our distinguished members of congress have begun getting rid of any donations that even SMELL like they might have come from him.
Hmmmmm....wonder what made me think of that nasty apartment again after all these years.

Congress doesn't have baseboards but the Ethics Committee serves the same function. The resident roaches there serve for the protection of the roaches at large.

And yall be nice to George, he don't know no better. After all he's number 3 in line behind Cheney and Rove and never was too bright to begin with but he does like he's told to do like a good little gofer. Actually I think he's finally starting to wake up to how his believing in Rove, Cheney and Rumsfelt got him in the fix he's in now. Question is, what is he going to do about it? Since he seems to think that loyalty is the highest virtue there is, I don't think he's going to do anything about it. "Stay the course!" is his mantra. Notice how presidents' hair always turns grey while they're in office? Clinton's turned white. I think Bush's is headed that way too. He's got another 3 years, a long time to be under that stress. I only hope and pray that we can accomplish some kind of miracle in Iraq.

I read where Abramoff has copped a plea and our distinguished members of congress have begun getting rid of any donations that even SMELL like they might have come from him. Yep, and now Delay has suddenly decided to allow the House Republicans to elect a new permanent majority leader. Until Abramoff rolled over Delay actually though he was going to survive his indictment and trial. I sincerely hope he and every other rotten crook in congress, Republicrat or Democan goes to jail but I ain't holdin' my breath. Funny how it only took the Republicans a dozen years to become bigger crooks than it took the Democrats 50 years to become. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Funny too how President Bush's approval rating is actually going up! Barnum was right, there's a sucker born every minute. What we have here is a nation of suckers! Whatever happened to Republicans like Abe Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt or Dwight Eisenhower or even George Herbert Walker Bush? None of them would let a bunch of souless corporations and totally criminal politicians completely take over this country.

You boys are being way to generous to W. Rove and the boys gave W a ride to the big time. They always called the shots (for their bosses - big oil and the defence industry) - that was the price of W's ticket.
The corruption is massive. Both financial and just plain power maddness.
Delay read the writing on the wall - he was dead meat and he knew it. He would not have folded his cards if there was a chance in hell that he could regain power.
Abramahoff (sp?) had to cut a deal to reduce his prision time - more heads will fall on that one.
Cheney is under investigation by the Germans and the French for bribery as CEO at Haliburton before he was VP. Haliburton is under investigation on a ton of stuff since then.
Scooter may be the sacrificial lamb right now but Rove isn't out of the woods on his leak to Novak.
Before its all done Teapot Dome and Watergate will have to move down on the scandal list.
Surely there is a decent candidate out there some place.

I said a long time ago, before the last presidential election that when the scandal broke it would make Teapot Dome look like somebody taking pens from the office. Now we've got the abuse of power like Watergate but on a way larger scale. Bush is claiming his wiretap power without warrant is legal. Before Watergate Nixon asked for that power only to be rebuffed since it's unconstitutional. Bush didn't even ask! Now all these people are saying he needs this power because we're at war. No he doesn't because he can legally wiretap anyone he damn well pleases as long as he applies for a warrant to the secret national security court within 72 hours of the wiretapping.

It has been said that the people have 3 boxes to control the Gov't: the soapbox (letters to the editor, etc.) the ballot box (now electronic and easily rigged) and the cartridge box. A lot of people are looking at the third option......Look up Claire Wolf..JMHO

Ok, I didnt realize we were moving to a political forum, but as long as you guys have started it, do you think it would have been any better with anyone else in the White House? The "record" gas profits are nothing more than a sensationalist ploy by the news media. $9B in profits is about a 10% profit margin. So are you saying that everyone should have their pee pee whacked that makes more than a 10% profit on anything? Or just gas? Remember, once you go to controling a free enterprise's profit, you have left a capitalistic society, and delved into socialism. Just becareful what you wish for.

I have actually seen the weather channel founder's video's maybe not this one, but I have seen a few, right around when he died last year, they were all over on many sites.
While I believe global warming is garbage manufactured and sold by Al Bore, the Weather channel guy is a ranting clown with very little fact. Damned poor arguments ... essentially weakening the whole side. He breathes and says there you go more pollutant ... poor, very poor. Its entertaining for anyone who's got a few mins to kill but little else.
Cool. Srinath.
