Here are a couple of pictures of the paint can opener pry bar method. In the first one you can see the crimped down lip of the bezel pried open. In the second I used my cordless drill to check that my speedo actually worked as I was unsure. The bezel is laying along side the tool.

This is great! An ittsy bittsy spider got into my tach and built a web in there right across the needle, and it just won't go away. Now I can finally get rid of that.

Now I can finally get rid of that. ;D ;D Once you get the bezel off the two screws on the back on either side of the cable connection are all that hold the mechanism in place. A pliers will also work to crimp the bezel back down, just use sometthing as a pad in the jaws so they don't mark it up.

I took the glass and bezel from a donor tach (hurt to do it, but I need the speedo...anyone need a perfectly good glassless tach? lol) Steve - if you've still got that tach, and if it still has the needle and black plastic trim ring from inside the glass, I could definitely use them.......

Thanks for posting the fix for this, Pete. It worked like a charm for me. Both screws had backed out and I was sick of watching the dial doing 360s in the housing. I cut the strip of heat shrink a little bigger than 13/16 to get more "grab" around the housing and then while the tubing was still hot, I applied pressure around the inside edge to make it conform more to the bezel bevel. Otherwise, this was a quick and easy solution that I wouldn't have come up with in a hundred years. Thanks.... By the way I have quite a bit of extra tubing if anyone in my neck of the woods needs any.
