Rhino, The stock light is 7" with the overall width of the bucket being just over 8".
As I mentioned in my PM to you, I checked with my local guy and while he probably could come up with a stocker, it wouldn't be much cheaper than a brand new unit. He had really nice units from about $75 to $150. So if you can snag something locally for $35 or so I'd say go for it.
Some of the aftermarket generic units look so close to stock you'd never know the difference. That would help move the project along.

Rhino - Rather than dealing with the ears you can get a set of those sheet metal brackets (the ones with the holes punched in them) pretty cheap, and bolt them up to any old cheap headlight you can find. Probably no room for wiring then tho.

I'm sorry, I have a couple of headlight assemblys around I think from 81's if someone could tell you if they would fit (pretty sure they would) you are welcome to one for the shipping
