Just got my new taillight from Mikes, I just unwrapped it. I noticed it has only a red & black wire, but the original taillight has 3, I'm guessing ground, tail, & brake. What's the trick here? Or did I flat out get a light that isn't going to work for me?

Syeve78650 Hi"
Remove the lense, check the bulb and see how many filament's your light bulb has, you will need two Plus a ground unless the ground is to the frame of the tail light. If you have the two filament's you could connect your ground wire to the frame or give Mike a call and ask for a swap.

I just mounted the same light to my '76. Wires are confusing, but it is the correct two filament set up. It also has the wrong size male lugs on the wire for plugging into the stock harness. Here's how I set it up after crimping on the correct lugs.
Black to the Dark Blue.
Red to the Yellow.
The Ground from the harness must be attached to the lights housing.
I also found that the hardware included was not long enough. So a quick trip to the hardware for new stainless steel screws 1/2" longer did the trick(I used 1/4-20 with nylock nuts). After drilling the two holes for the bottom two screws, I also slotted the stock hole at the top so the screw would sit in properly.
Other than all of that, I love the way the new light looks. Much cleaner than the stocker, that only the engineer could love.

Worked like a champ Matt, thanks!
I mounted mine a little lower than normal, so I drilled all new mounting holes covering up the old ones with with either the housing or the license plate. I'm with you, the more form fitting light adds a ton to the rear end.
