I have noticed that most people are posting in the General Board thread. I have also noticed a lower level of response when I post in other threads. Maybe there are too many threads, I count 25. Only 7 of them have more than 50 posts.
I suggest:
General Engine Chassis Electrical Carb Troubleshooting Parts Events Stories Links
Maybe two or three more, but thats it...
Do others think this would help, or am I out in left field?

I've noticed that some users do not post or ask questions within the properly related catagories...Why this happens, I'll never understand. Compound this issue with others users who ask unrelated questions within a specified catagory, [which obviously twists the thread into a an entirely different direction], the info specific catagories, help keep the original subject matter in some order, and hopefully help prevent the info from becoming too watered down, where the original intent of the posts/questions would be lost within the off topic chatter..
Specific catagories is intended to prevent the info seeking user from having to read through ump-teen posts of unrelated subject matter, to finally [hopefully]get to the info the user was searching for....That is, if people use the boards for their respective and intended subject matter.
Specific catagories point users in the direction of the info they are seeking, such as it pertains to brakes, chains/sprockets, clutch problems, electrical know how, electrical problems, trouble shooting and so on..
I like focused info at a glance, not reading through a bunch of other stuff, in hopes of finding info specific to my needs..I figure other users do as well..I don't find catagories and sub-catagories burden-some or confusing..

Another item is how long it takes to check all of these individual topics. I rarely do, I usually only read the latest 10 posts a the bottom of the screen. Sometimes I'll look in a particular topic, but only if I have a current interest (maybe thats the idea).
I'm just trying to provide some feedback on how I use the board and what changes would benefit me. Use my comments as you see fit and keep up the good work.

I would also suggest encourging the entire board to clean up their own messages....there are a ton of general posts that really don't have any technical merit that I'd hate to see us waste space with. Granted it's cool to chat and talk about various topics, but some of the topics probably don't need to be preserved, just the how-to & techincal info... My 2 cents

Hello,
I really like all the catagories. The only problem is that a lot of the questions that belong in a certain place end up in the General board. I believe this is because it is assumed the poster will get a better response than if the post was put in the correct catagory.
If before posting we all think about where the topic belongs we can avoid cluttering up the general catagory.
Just some thoughts.
Later,
HawkNE

I'm kind of on both sides of this post. Miss placed questions are a problem as are off topic posts. At the same time being able to just look at the topic areas I want to is why I like the board better than the e-mail list type forum. The current "Breather" thread is a great case of a simple question taken to far to the extreme on the List. I tend to post mainly in areas I feel my strengths are but I read others posts to learn from them. Cruly's posts in the Charging system area were a great help as I tracked down an electrical problem in my black bike. All and all I'm happy with the board and I know that it's a lot of work keeping it running. Some topics don't interest me that much but they may be just what someone else is needing help with. It's the same as in life, Something for everyone. Greg

I try to post topics in the right place. I never really thought about posts not getting seen in those boards. That might be because of the way I look at posts. I always just go to the search page and scroll dwn to the bottom and set the number of days so I search back to the last time I was on and set display results to 200 I leave all the boards checked so I see all the new posts since I was last on. To tell you the truth I don't pay much attention to what board they were posted in. If I see one that really interests me I click and read the whole thread. Then hit the back button to the search results. Russ Neal
