Well, I went to the Cycleworld Bike show here in Cleveland yesterday. Over all, I think it may have been slightly better than last year, but still no great event. Ducati had a nice display, the big 4 had all their newest, and of course the cruisers were drawing a big crowd everywhere, which helped me as I really am not all that interested in anything with floor boards and I don't just ride to bike night
The vendors were mostly the junk sellers although I did score a nice pair of leather insulated gauntlet gloves and neck gator so i can ride sooner this spring! All of the better known retailers had simple catalog hand outs, etc. but there had to be 5 different booths selling some of the cheapest sunglasses I've ever seen. Of course there was plenty of orange and black leather too, and those super protective bandanna doo rags.
Yamaha had a nice set up, split their regular bikes and the Star line into two separate display areas. Had a fiberglass mock-up of a possible next generation v-max that looked like a cartoon character of the existing Max. Pretty disappointing and they had it displayed in the Star area, took me awhile to find it. What really struck me was the number of scooters-every booth had some.
Two bikes really stand out for me, the 1st would be my choice for a daily commuter/fun bike - the Kawasaki Ninja 650R. parallel twin 650 fairly sporting with a very comfortable seating position. The 2nd is for long distance, the new Motoguzzi California Vintage. It's a beautiful old style bagger, very reminiscent of the old Ambassador cop bikes. I think I like it because it isn't another Milwaukee knock off.
My .02, Matt
