Is there gonna be a rally held on the weekend of September 15? If so ,who's going from the board, where's the rally point, where ya staying and what are prices for a room and board. Hopefully the weather will be cooperative like last year with plenty of sunshine to heat that black underlay thingy called asphalt for excellent rubber adhesion .................Jack

I'm not on the board, but I plan to be there. I'm staying at the Tally-Ho. I'm coming up from Atlanta on two wheels, so I expect to ride my XS Eleven. My plan is to be there Thursday night.

Yep, Talley-Ho Inn in Townsend, same as last year. Jack, my plans got thrown for a loop by a little surprise a week ago Sunday--arterial blockage and heart catheterization and stent. Everything looks fine, no damage, but the doc says no riding for 4 weeks, though I'm OK'd to drive--the cath. tube went up the femoral artery from the groin and they don't want that area stressed while it heals. Well, ya wouldn't wanta be around me anyhow while the tobacco withdrawal's going on! I'm still planning on the Society's Missouri camp out October 6-8.

That's the one, Mike. Ouch for sure! Guess I'd better get hold of Don and find out if that event's still happening.

Thanks, Jack--next year for sure. Dang, last year's Rendezvous was fun! I've been trying to remember the name of guy with the big ole FJ who led the ride on the return run to Gatlinburg; a little over halfway back he put another rider on point, gave me a thumbs-up, and we lit'em up some--turned the fast pack into the middle right quick and we were still using only the right half of the lane 'cause of cages, Hardlies and Lead Wings. He was an impressive rider; my little Zook had a decided advantage over the big 4-banger on those roads, but he gave me a real good workout and if we'd swapped machines he'd have run off and left me--might have anyway if he'd wanted to!
And thanks, recovery will be "speedy!" Just before the ticker tocked I'd done the first serious high-speed runs on the new engine and picked up a little stuff on the plugs that belonged on the pistons, so timing got rolled back a couple degrees and mains got upped a size; didn't get a chance for a chop-and-read session on the new settings, so that's the top item on the agenda!

Well I left the house at 4.30 AM this mourning for the 650 Society rally in Townsend,Tenn, traveled through miles of dense fog and I mean dense fog,got lost because of the weather conditions and finally arrived at the destination point at 8.45am and couldn't locate a single bike that resembled an XS at the Tally Hoo Inn, not even a trailer,I even hung around a few hours and absolutely no luck!!!!!!!! I 'll never make plans to attend one of these society rallies again. But on a good note I rode the Dragon, logged in over 375 miles for the day and a numb a$$, for an absolutely beautiful day to take off to relax.................jack

Last year there wasn't much going on till Saturday either. I rolled in Friday A.M. and the Friday ride amounted to Don Lawson and yrs. truly; I don't think anybody else showed up till evening. I'm surprised Don wasn't there Friday morning.
I just know you were using the Hardlies for traction on US 129, so let us know the best tire combination for good hook-up on Milwaukee's finest.

Hey guys, I missed this years Smoky mtn. rally myself due to family health issues. There was a rally, here's the link to Roger's pictures, tinyurl.com/mkcopRoger rode the bike he got from my earlier this year so at least my former bike was at the rally. Greg

Jack,
Did you say you arrived Friday morning? You didn't look hard enough. No trailers had arrived yet, but I was there and Camden Price had his tracker parked outside his room until almost noon. My bike was there too, but I was on my XS1100. It was also in the parking lot until almost noon. There were a bunch of us there by Friday night. Next time, perhaps you should contact Camden or somebody and report your itinerary. That way we'll come find you when you're lost.
