Hi guys.... checking out all the great bikes.. thought i would share mine with you also. This is my first project bike... first time welding and well you know the rest.... it took about a year and a half... i have the rear brake (rear linkage) to install and then im done. Bubba - this is the guy with the stock 81 you talked to at Betty's this morning. Folks, this bike looks even better in person. Got that mean purposeful aura. The handshift adds about 25 pounds of vibe.  miker

Great job! I really like the the "heel brake" and floorboards. I may change my pipes and and go for that.

old... the floor boars where the easiest part... they are after market harley passenger boards --- with the posts welded into the mounting bracket for the pipes...
the pipes.... grade a1 Fleet Farm with pipe wrap ;D

Hey gump, did you use the whole front end of the xs400 or just the wheel? How did you keep the hub from turning?

ok sorry i haven't checked back... new lappy and forgot the site  to answer the questions.... paint... bike is all flat black... wheel paint... from fleet farm... oil and gas resistant... and really looks good. my bike was originally to be a good 15 foot bike... i would say it is a good 5 foot bike. as far as the front end... no the front end is all 650 except for the 18 inch 400 wheel. i had to mill the axle down on the stock 650 to meet the 17 mm diameter requirements to fit the 400 wheel. also converted from disc to drum.
