Greetings XS fans. I'm Dano, 27 and currently living in Fort Collins Colorado. I'm a software engineer by day, after hours I run a vintage electric rebuilding service and occasionally I get to sleep and work on my own junk.
Currently in the stable I have a '78 XS650 hardtail. Stock rake and forks, 6 out in the back, forward controls, Boyer box, solid state reg/rec from Mikes, foot clutch with hand shift and kick only. Holds 2 gallons of gas, which limits how far away I can get in trouble and is probably giving me irreversible nerve and spine damage everytime I ride it. Love it.

Next up is the '82 XS that is my gals ride. Short shocks with slid tubes, flipped euro bars, euro headlight visor, smaller cateye LED (read: OMG ITS BRIGHT!) turn signals and flames the previous dufus painted on the tins. Seat and taillight are next to get replaced with something a bit more cafe-looking, even thought its not really a cafe, but more borrowing styling from one. I've got a full hydraulic clutch that will go on the bike soon too since she's got small hands and can't hardly pull the clutch in sometimes. Sadly, just last night I pulled the engine in it chasing what sounded like all the tappets were loose when they were adjusted correctly. Pulled the head and gave the pistons a shake at tdc, they rocked back and forth pretty bad in the bores. Skirts and walls are both pretty scuffed up. Bummer.

Got 3 others in pieces and parts that are waiting to be built up into something new. Also have a '82 GS1100g Suzi shafty that is quite fun to tool around on, but is expensive on the tire budget. Glad this board is here, I've learned a whole lot just reading, hopefully I can contribute something meaningful in return for the wealth of knowledge I've been able to read from the fine folks here. --Dano
